Love of a Water Spirit

Undine is a consultant for Berlin’s city development bureau. When her current boyfriend suddenly breaks up with her, an ancient curse is about to be fulfilled. Undine is a water spirit. According to medieval legends, if the man who mates with her betrays her, she is destined to kill him and return to the water. Wishing to resist this curse, she leaves Berlin. Then, she meets Christoph, an industrial diver working in a reservoir area in western Germany, and their lives become intertwined.

Undine is a mesmerizing romance that doubles as a love letter to Berlin. It pushes its artistic interpretation of water from the screen and instills it into your soul, allowing you to drift along with the characters (with ‘Concerto in D Minor, BWV 974 - 2. Adagio by Bach’ working magically as a recurring motif). The fantasy elements are combined with medieval legends and modern backgrounds, which leads to mythical fables and contemporary reality becoming enchantingly fused by authentic love.

The speeches about urban history allow strange and agile feelings to be rooted in the busy traffic of modern cities. They make this film more unique and special as well as provide us with a tender perspective of the city’s modernization. This dynamic love manages to percolate through your memory and strike a chord in you that you didn't even know existed.

Sometimes, the sun can be too bright and blinding with its expectations, leaving you with nowhere to hide. So, let's dive deep and meet at the bottom of the lake.
